The Strasbourg Carnival awaits young and old alike on Sunday 24 March 2024. It's a day of festivities in the Alsatian capital, to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring! The theme of the 2024 carnival is: Let's shake off the winter!
Strasbourg Carnival: schedule and 2024 theme
A festive occasion par excellence, the Strasbourg Carnival returns on Sunday 24 March 2024 from 3pm to 6pm! As every year, a grand cavalcade will take place in the city centre.
Traditionally the last of its kind in the region, the Strasbourg Carnival invites young and old alike to take to the streets to chase away the cold and welcome the warmer weather. Every year, many local organisations are invited to take part in the parade.
The Carnival 2024 procession will set off at 3.11pm on 24 March 2024, passing through several streets in the city centre (around 2km). A colourful, original and musical spectacle not to be missed!
"The theme of Carnival 2024 is "Let's shake off the winter! With rolling and flying objects, costumed characters on foot and lively music, the procession is set to be dynamic and creative for this new edition.
Events at the Strasbourg Carnival 2024
New this year, you can take part in preparatory workshops (registration required) before joining the Cavalcade. You can choose from
- Juggling workshop
- Rhythm and percussion workshop
- Dance / HipHop workshop
- Fresco workshop

- 1.30pm - Start of the workshops: learn a few rhythms or dance steps before joining the cavalcade and crossing the city with all the troops.
- 3.11pm - Launch of the parade - place de l'Etoile (rue de Vienne at the corner of the Cité de la Musique et de la Danse)
- 4pm - Arrival of the first troops - place Kléber
- 5pm - "Bada Boom! the family dance party for all generations by Vladimir Spoutnik and his team - place Kleber
